2023 Syron Memorial Tournament
We are happy to announce that the 55th Annual Syron Memorial Golf Tournament will be held the weekend of June 30 to July 2, 2023.
Last few years…
We have had very exciting tournament finishes in the last few years. Anthony Sorentino beat Brian Lesperance by two shots to win his second Syron Memorial title in the last 3 years. He has now joined a very small group of elite players that has won the tournament three times. Greg Davies, a tournament regular for the last 30 years, finished in 3rd and Dan Wood, a former member at Pontiac Country Club, took 4th place. Dan caused some excitement around the clubhouse when he jumped into an early lead on day one of the tournament.
This year’s tournament…
The Syron Memorial 54 Hole Medal Play Tournament is always a fun and memorable experience for everyone. As always, we award over $4,000 in gift certificates as prize money to the top 15 finishers (your status as an amateur golfer is safe as long as your prize is under $750). As always the Syron Memorial is about a fun weekend. Yes, it’s a competitive Amateur golf tournament that has been a Michigan favorite for the last 55 years but it is in its brand of funch which is best illustrated by the gallery of spectators that is most prominent on Sunday. Hopefully, the tight competition we’ve seen the last few years will continue in 2023 but we know the fun will always be present.
Attached is an entry for the weekend. The cost to participate is unchanged from last year. If you would like to be paired with 1-3 other golfers of your choice on the first day of the tournament, those requests must be submitted by June 16, 2023. No requests can or will be considered after that date as we will have already finalized the pairing schedule. The leaders (representing the top 1/3 of the field) will be given fixed tee times on days 2 and 3 starting around 10 am. Those tee times are posted to Facebook once available each day. The lower 2/3 of the field have the option to pair with friends who are also placed outside the leaders. Play will start at 7:30 am on Saturday and Sunday: you simply need to arrive at the course, check in with the starter, and request a pairing or tee time. Given the high demand for entry spots in recent years, we recommend that you promptly submit your application with your payment to reserve your spot. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Sincerely yours,
The Syron Family
